As the Executive Director of the Brownsville Wellness Coalition and its Brownsville Farmers’
Market, I’m reminded of what is essential… family, friends, access to healthy food, and the
hardworking people who put food on our tables.
The Brownsville Farmers’ Market provides fresh produce in a food desert location,
providing local seasonal products to the entire community. It’s a bi-cultural tourist
destination located in the Mitte Cultural District.
The Market is located in Linear Park on the Historic Battlefield bike trail with available bike
racks. It invites physical activities. Free yoga, Little Pretzel yoga for kids, and gym boot
camps take place every week. Because this is also a pet-friendly market, the “entire” family
can spend quality time together in a healthful, supportive, and safe environment.
Between 9 am and noon on Saturdays, the community loves to gather at the Brownsville
Farmers’ Market to enjoy our beautiful weather. There we can sip a cup of fresh coffee,
walk our dogs, listen to live music and chat with the folks who sell us farm fresh eggs,
homegrown vegetables, and everything from tamales to honey to gulf shrimp.
You won’t find fresher seafood, vegetables, fruits, or herbs anywhere else in the Rio Grande
Valley. We’ll see you here.
